Christiane Schönefeld takes over the chair of the Minimum Wage Commission

Christiane Schönefeld has been appointed by the Federal Government as the new Chair of the Minimum Wage Commission, following a joint proposal by the social partners. She will take over the chair of the Minimum Wage Commission on 13 February 2023.

Minimum Wage Commission publishes current study results on the effects of the statutory minimum wage

"Berlin. The Minimum Wage Commission commissioned a series of research projects in 2020, the final reports of which have now been published. In eleven quantitative and qualitative studies, relevant questions on the current effects of the statutory minimum wage were analysed in accordance with the statutory evaluation criteria."

Minimum wage commission presents next evaluation report in June 2023

Berlin. In response to the cabinet decision on the draft law to increase the protection provided by the statutory minimum wage (Minimum Wage Increase Act - MiLoEG), the Minimum Wage Commission has announced that it has decided not to submit the report on the effects of the statutory minimum wage scheduled for June 2022, but to publish its next report in June 2023.

Minimum wage commission decides to increase the statutory minimum wage in four stages

Berlin. At its meeting today, the Minimum Wage Commission unanimously decided to adjust the level of the statutory minimum wage in four stages: An increase to 9.50 euros on 1 January 2021 and to 9.60 euros on 1 July 2021, as well as to 9.82 euros on 1 January 2022 and to 10.45 euros on 1 July 2022. Along with the adjustment decision, the commission has presented a report on the effects of the statutory minimum wage.
