Further information on the minimum wage

If you, as an employee or employer, or for any other reason, have questions about the minimum wage, you will find an overview of important information and regulations regarding the statutory minimum wage here. Among other things, it explains how compliance with the minimum wage is monitored and which minimum wage regulations apply to internships.

Scope

Since January 1, 2025, every employee has been entitled to a statutory minimum wage of €12.82 per hour. We will inform you about statutory entitlements and payment deadlines for the minimum wage, as well as which payments may be credited towards the minimum gross wage.

Exceptions

Employees in Germany are generally entitled to payment of the applicable minimum wage. However, there are exceptions, such as employees under the age of 18 or the long-term unemployed, for whom the statutory minimum wage does not apply. We explain these in an overview.

Regulations for internships

Interns are entitled to the statutory minimum wage. However, in certain cases, the statutory minimum wage does not apply during internships. An overview of these exceptions shows which exceptions apply.
